HEARTBEAT PORTRAIT project
Since 2007, HEARTBEAT PORTRAIT has been started to perform the interactive live drawing that SASAKI draws paintings as portraits of people's heartbeats, drawn on over 1300 people in the world until today.
Process:
1) A pulse monitor-heartbeat sensor is attached to the finger of the participant, and the measured signal is output as audio in real time through a set of sound system, the sound and rhythm echoing throughout the space. 2) In response to this rhythm, Sasaki draws the image of heartbeat waves for a period of time (For example 1 or 3 minutes. Participants are given the unique opportunity to experience the sound and rhythm of their own heartbeat while watching this depicted as a HEARTBEAT DRAWING by Sasaki. 3) Through this process it becomes proof of each person's living being and come to form "Heartbeat Portrait".
ハートビート・ポートレイトツについて：
1. 参加者の指先に小さな鼓動センサーを取り付け、その音信がスピーカーからリアルタイムで鼓動音となってリズムを刻み、空間に響きわたる.
2. Sasakiは、そのリズムに合わせて鼓動の波形を３分間描いていく。参加者は、ドローイングを見ながら、自身の鼓動音とそのリズムを聞くという、いままでにない体験をすることになる.
3. 参加者は、描かれたドローイングの場所に署名する.
このプロセスをとおして、"Heartbeat Drawing"は人々の生きた証となり、ハートビート・ポートレイトツ／鼓動の肖像となる.

More than 267 people participated.
Each participant's heartbeats per 1-minute were drawn on the wall with their portrait photos.
This was an artwork of ripples that SASAKI feels the rhythm of a real time heart beating of the participants by putting a sensor on their fingertips.
This HEARTBEAT PORTRAIT was a 'connect' with all the visitors' proof of living.

299 people participated. Each participant's heartbeats per 3-minute were drawn on the silver panels. The real time heart beating of the participants by touching a sensor on their hands.

Through a 6 day workshop Heartbeat-Sasaki continuously drew 3 minute “Heartbeat Portraits” of 139 participants.
Here are depicted the heartbeats of each participant, captured for 3 minutes, and then signed by themselves.
Many participants were graduates of this former school Rensei Junor High. These drawings, “Heartbeat-Portraits”,
come to be “proof of living being” and a memory of the people who visited here.
